Ribbon Fish

Ribbon fish (principally Trichiurus lepturus, widely traded as Hairtail or Cutlassfish) is a wild-caught marine species prized for its long, silver, scaleless body and mild, tender white meat. Primarily exported frozen in Whole Round (WR), Headless/Gutted (HGT), or portioned formats, it is strictly graded by weight (ranging from under 200g up to 700g+) and skin condition, where intact, mirror-like silver skin commands a significant price premium. Maintained at strict temperatures below -18°C to preserve skin lustre and meat quality, it sees its highest commercial demand across East Asian markets—particularly China, South Korea, and Japan—and requires standard export clearance including HACCP certification, Catch Certificates, and health documentation (such as GACC approval for China entry).
